Frank Farber
(February 19, 1915 - March 9, 2013)

A role model on how to live a long and wonderful life, Frank Farber, 98, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2013 in Boca Raton, FL.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the chapel adjacent to Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3966 Asbury Rd., Dubuque. Rabbi Sheldon Ezring will officiate. Interment will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque, Iowa.

Frank was born on February 19, 1915 to Morris and Sarah Farber, one of seven children. He proudly graduated from Dubuque Senior High in 1933, and then began his life long career and passion working at Farber & Sons, later Farber Bag & Supply.

Frank was an avid sports enthusiast, and an all-around athlete who played tennis until the young age of 92.

A history buff, he was a living encyclopedia on the lore of Dubuque; everyone knew him as a remarkable witty and fun story teller. Frank led a great and charmed life, an inspiration to us all.

Frank will be greatly missed by his five beloved children, Donna (David) Wyte, Allan (Marla) Farber, Jim (Martha) Farber, David Farber and Susan (Bernie Saks) Farber; his adored 18 Grandchildren, Stephan ( Karen ) Farber, Robin (Ed) Senteno, Wendy (Steven) Susswein , Greg Logsdon, Seth Farber, Jessica Gleeson, Tina (Jime) Andino, Quincy Farber, Dustin (Annie ) Farber, Nick Farber, Britni Farber, Sophie Saks, and Sonja Saks; his precious 15 Great-Great Grandchildren ; as well as his brother, Charles Farber; 16 nieces and nephews, especially Barry Farber, Harvey (Mara) Fein, Artie (Jennifer) Fein , and Phylis (Larry) Pomerantz. Frank’s memory is also cherished by our life- long friends, the William Feye and Richard Mack families, Don Novey , and Chuck Stoltz.

Frank was preceded in death by his dearly beloved wife of 51 years, Sylvia Fein Farber, his lovely friend of 18 years, Ruth Segal, his parents, Morris and Sarah Farber, and his siblings Harry Farber, Louis Farber, Merle Farber, Faye Farber Smith, and Bertha Farber Petrillo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials for Frank have been established for the University of Dubuque Tennis Program and for Temple Beth-El.
