Mrs. Angela Theresa (Kuhl) McFarland, 83, a lifelong resident of Dubuque, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, in Phoenix, Ariz., where she spent her final year, following a long battle with cancer.

Services will be at 9 a.m. today at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Phoenix. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Phoenix. The Whitney and Murphy Arcadia Funeral Home, Phoenix, is in charge of arrangements.

She worked in retail sales at the former Genz, Rosheks and Stampfers stores.

She married Edward McFarland on Oct. 18, 1948; he passed away just eight days prior to Angela.

She was a devout member of St. Patrick's Parish where she volunteered and was a past member of the Rosary Society.

Surviving are a sister, Ruth Kuhlmann; five children, Karen Thomson, Stephen McFarland, Nancy Alling, Linda Kirkpatrick and Richard McFarland; 11 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Albert, Frank, Ike and Morrie; and sisters, Rosie and Mary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Dubuque Area Residential Care, the American Cancer Society and to Karen Thomson, 4623 E. Monterosa St., Phoenix, Ariz. 85018.
