Esther E. Magel, 99, of Pontiac, Ill., formerly of Dubuque, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Tjardes Health Care Center, Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church, Pontiac, with the Rev. William Shields and the Rev. Dieter Punt officiating. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery. Friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on June 24, 1904, in Dubuque, daughter of George and Caroline (Graessle) Unmacht. She married the Rev. R. G. Magel on Aug. 21, 1935, in Dubuque.

Surviving are her husband, the Rev. R. G. Magel; a sister, Ruth Wieland, of Dubuque; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.

Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church, Pontiac, and Good Samaritan Home, Flanagan.
