Victor N. Thoma, 81, of Dubuque passed away on Sunday August 26, 2012 at Ennoble Manor.

Services will be at 10:00a.m. on Thursday August 30th at St. Donatus Catholic Church with Rev. Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3PM to 8PM on Wednesday August 29th at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd, where there will be a wake service at 3pm. Friends may also call after 9am Thursday at the church in St. Donatus.

He was born on August 3, 1930 in St. Donatus, Iowa the son of Joseph and Frances (Meisenburg) Thoma. He married Viola Butlett and she preceded him in death.

Victor farmed for his entire life in the La Motte area and was a former member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church. He retired from Dubuque John Deere and was a member of the UAW Local 94. He loved gardening and was an avid outdoorsman, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children; Daniel (Sharon) Thoma, of Kieler, WI, Sharon (Patrick) Butler,and Victor Thoma Jr., both of Dubuque, Sally Thoma, Alfred Thoma, both of La Motte. Many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Brothers, Larry Thoma, Donald (Bertha) Thoma, Ernest (Alice) Thoma, Francis (Mary) Thoma, and Richard (Ethel) Thoma. Sisters; Marie (Alfred) Barth, Bernice Pottebaum, and Patricia (Eddie) Klaas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Viola, a grandson Taylor Keuter, and brothers Bill, Arnold and Joseph.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Matthew Kirkendall, and all the healthcare professionals of Finley Hospital for all their care and kindness.
