Kenneth C. Morgan, 85, of 626 Lincoln Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John''s Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Mr. Morgan worked in the office of the city of Dubuque Street Department before his retirement.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1918, in Dubuque, son of John and Marie (Wilkinson) Morgan. He married Betty Suverkrup at St. John''s Lutheran Church; they were married for 54 years.

He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1936. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was a very active volunteer with the American Association of Retired Persons, working as district tax coordinator. He also kept busy with other volunteer activities.

He was a lifelong member of St. John''s Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Mosaic Masonic Lodge 125 of Masons AF and AM, Dubuque Chapter 3 of Cryptic Masons, Dubuque Council 3 of Royal and Select Masons of Iowa and a Knight Templar of Siloam Commandery 3, all of Dubuque.

Because of his love of language, he was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. His favorite books were about history and presidential biographies. He had a very keen interest in current events of the world. He also was an avid baseball fan.

He had a great love for his family, church and special granddaughter.

Surviving are his wife, Betty, of Dubuque; a daughter, Cheryl (Bob) Esmail, of Wheaton, Ill.; a granddaughter, Emily Rose Esmail; a brother, Dr. Carl (Eunice) Morgan, of Rochester, Minn.; a sister: Ethel (Rev. Waldemar) Storm, of Mandan, N.D.; two sisters-in-law, Julia Morgan, of Dubuque, and Kwan Morgan, of Denver; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hank and Frieda Suverkrup; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Harold Morgan; and a sister, Margaret Morgan.

A Kenneth Morgan Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank the doctors, staff and nurses at Wendt Regional Cancer Center, Dubuque Internal Medicine and The Finley Hospital for their loving care.
