Chief Warrant Officer 4, Allan F. Loes, 72, of 620 Dogwood Lane, Raeford N.C., formerly of Cascade, Iowa, and Dubuque, died at 11:58 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Hope Mills, N.C. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 N. Main St., Hope Mills.

He was born on Feb. 3, 1931, in Cascade, son of Francis and Marguerite (Klinkner) Loes. He married Karen Selby on June 26, 1957.

He graduated from the former Loras Academy in Dubuque, and later graduated with an associate of arts degree from Fayetteville Technical Community College and a bachelor''s degree from Methodist College.

He served in the Army for 28 years, retiring in 1978. He later worked as a civil service employee for the Army for 10 years.

Allan loved doing anything that involved his family, whether it be traveling, fishing, hunting, camping or rooting for his grandchildren in their sports.

Surviving are his wife, Karen, of Raeford; three sons, Donald (Margie), Ronald (Ann) and Gary, all of Raeford; three daughters, Susan (Curtis) Quick and Diane, both of Raeford, and Kathryn (Jerome Fowler), of Holden Beach, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Sharon, Gerald, Casey and Lindsey Loes, Curtis and Terry Quick, Christy (Mike Johnson) Lee and Johnathan Fowler; four great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kaitlyn Lee and Christian and Cameron Johnson; two brothers, Jerry (Mary) Loes, of Dubuque, and Tim (Jackie) Wharton, of Hardinsburg, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Madonna Howell, of Dubuque.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 5050 Oak St., Hope Mills, N.C. 28348 and the Rockfish Volunteer Fire Department, 7600 Phillippi Church Road, Raeford, N.C. 28376.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the Community Hospice of Cumberland County, especially Ann Marie, Dana and Tammy for all their care and support during Mr. Loes'' illness.
