Bernard R. Rudiger, 89, of 2714 Linda Court, died at 7:55 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque.

He was born on May 1, 1914, in Creston, Iowa.

Bernard was a past member of the Masons, Shriners, Elks and Moose Lodge. He also was inducted into the Softball Fast Pitch Hall of Fame.

Surviving are his children, Wayne (Sandra) Rudiger, of Dubuque, and their children, Renee (Bill) Wahlin, Ron (Laurie) Rudiger and Brian (Sue) Rudiger; seven great-grandchildren, Ben, Corey and Ali Wahlin and Jennifer, Jessica, Kamber and Tanner Rudiger; three children from a previous marriage, Glen (LaRue) Fraiser, and their children, Robin, Laurie, Denise and Leslie; Gene (Gail) Fraiser, and their children, Robin, Bobby, Tammy, Amy, Mitchell, Julie and Curtis; and LeRoy Fraiser, and his son, Brian. Also surviving are a brother, Harold Rudiger; and two sisters, Elsie and Geraldine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne and Lenert; and his wife, Rowena Collop.

In lieu of flowers, a Bernard R. Rudiger Memorial Fund has been established.
