Sandra Jo Leirmoe-Washburn, 48, formerly of Dubuque, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, after a long struggle with diabetes.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Haudenshield Funeral Home, Kieler, Wis., with the Rev. Cy Weisensel officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque. The family will greet guests and celebrate the strength of Sandy's life and passing from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1955, in Dubuque.

She knew the treasures of her life were her children and grandchildren and cared for them more than life itself.

Her favorite things to do were watching her grandchildren, playing in the pool and eating mom's cooking.

As a family, they all know that she is at peace and will forever watch over them.

Her strength will be carried out by her three children, Georgeanna (Javier) Delgada and Adam Shireman, both of Waterloo, Iowa, and Naomi (Daniel) Baldaris, of Sedena, Texas; her husband, Dennis Washburn, of Waterloo; her mother, Bonnie Leirmoe, of Dubuque; a brother, Gary (Pat) Leirmoe, of Elk River, Minn.; two sisters, Charlie (Ken) Leirmoe-Kaiser and Lisa (Ric) Maiers, both of Dubuque; three grandchildren, Vanessa, Javier and Erica; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis J. Leirmoe; her grandparents, Frank and Pearl LePert and Christ and Clara Leirmoe; and an uncle, Frank G. LePert.

In lieu of flowers, a Sandra Jo Leirmoe-Washburn Memorial Fund has been established.
