Leo F. Neuses, 78, of 1691 McPoland St., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Nativity Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Neuses worked in various garages and then worked as a mechanic at H&W Express for 34 years, retiring in 1987.

He was born on Jan. 16, 1925, in Rickardsville, Iowa, son of Albert and Veronica (Naumann) Neuses. He married Joan Cupps on April 30, 1949, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Dubuque. They were blessed with 54 wonderful years together.

He attended school in Rickardsville and at Holy Ghost and Dubuque Senior High School.

He volunteered with St. Vincent De Paul and was a member of the Teamsters Retirees and Nativity Parish.

Leo enjoyed woodworking and making furniture for his home and children. He shared produce from his large garden with neighbors and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Joan (Cupps) Neuses, of Dubuque; two daughters, Susan Hrabak, of Normal, Ill., and Janet (Dave) Lammer, of Troy, Ill.; two sons, Dave (Rhonda Kirch) Neuses, of Temple, Texas, and Larry Neuses, of Dubuque; six grandchildren, Jessica (fiance, Paul Frazer) Hrabak, of Brooklyn, N.Y., James Hrabak, of Normal, Michael Lammer, of Maryville, Ill., Rebekah and Aaron Lammer, of Troy, and Angie (Craig) Caddell, of Belton, Texas; two sisters, Marian Chapman, of LaPuenta, Calif., and Helen Kollman, of Heritage Manor Apartments in Asbury, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Marveen Neuses, of Victoria, Texas, and Margaret Neuses, of Lexington, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Joseph, Irvin and Cyril.
