Imelda M. Shannon, 91, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of 2418 White St., died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

She was born on April 23, 1912, in Salem, S.D., daughter of Charles and Frances (Uhele) Pelzer. She married Joseph Shannon in 1930, in Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1975.

Imelda was a quiet homemaker who dedicated herself to her family. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (Dave) Koehler, of Dubuque; a son, Terry (Doris) Shannon, of Dubuque; nine grandchildren, Kim Koehler, Kelley (Mike) Vondal, Kerry Koehler, Vickie (Kerry) Rutkowski, Rick (Patti) Shannon, Cindy Schroeder, Tracy (Steve) Grant, Brian Shannon and Brad Shannon; 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; and a brother, Carl Pelzer, of Sun City West, Ariz.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Robert; a daughter-in-law, June; two sisters, Evelyn and Bernadine; and a brother, Frank,

In lieu of flowers, an Imelda Shannon Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque and the staff of Ennoble Manor Care Center.
