Funeral services for George Wilson Boyden, age 74, were held at Mt. Scott United Presbyterian church in Portland, Oregon. The Rev. Bruce Swanson officiated and a private burial was held in the Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa.

George Wilson Boyden, son of Earl and Carrie (Fetchle) Wilson Boyden, was born April 30, 1923 in Dubuque, Iowa. George attended Waukon, Iowa public schools, graduating in 1941. In 1942 George entered defense work with Lockheed/Vega in
Burbank, California. Later he worked for Sears. On March 17, 1971 he married Eliabeth "Betty" Raikes in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1975 the family moved to Baker City, Oregon and purchased Sandy Park Court. They moved to LaGrande in 1983 and purchased the Orchard Motel. They retired in 1992 and in 1997 came out of retirement and purchased the Cherokee Mingo Motel in Wallowa, Oregon.

George Wilson Boyden died August 25, 1997 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Wallowa, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-daughter, Sandra Werren.

George is survived by his wife, Betty; 2 sons, George Boyden of Ventura, California, and John Boyden of Lincoln City, Oregon; a step-son Tedd Mangiacotti of Whittier, California; a daughter Misty Kettering of Sandy, Oregon, and a step-daughter, Linda Grimes of Hemet, California; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Pearl Nank of Dubuque, Iowa and Peggy Menger of Guttenburg.
