George A. Frommelt

George A. Frommelt, 75, of 980 Kane St., died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League and Tri-State Vietnam Veterans Association. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 4 p.m.

Mr. Frommelt owned and operated Frommelt Landscaping for more than 50 years.

He was born on May 25, 1928, in Dubuque, son of George and Gertrude (Koenig) Frommelt. He married Lumilda Muenster on Oct. 22, 1960, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque.

George proudly served his country with the Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Lumilda "Lu" (Muenster) Frommelt; five children, Aimee (Ken) Kuhle, Greg (Nicki) Frommelt and Shawna (Jay) Cone, all of Dubuque, Nina (Dave) Bergthold, of Camdenton, Mo., and Brian (Pam) Frommelt, of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Matthew Stepp, Marissa and Dylan Bergthold, Carter Frommelt, Brandon Frommelt and Nicholas and Erika Cone; a brother, Art Frommelt, of Dubuque; and two sisters, Lucille Hartford, of Farley, Iowa, and Donna (Richard) Trannel, of Monroe, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Frommelt; and four sisters, Marcella Behnke, Ruth Behnke, Bernice Kieffer and Marie Frommelt.

A George A. Frommelt Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, all the doctors and staff at The Finley Hospital, Finley Homecare and Dubuque Internal Medicine.
