Family memorial services for Stanley G. Loper were held July 24, 1991 at the Dubuque Memorial Gardens Cemetery, south of Dubuque, Iowa. Graveside committal services were held Tuesday, October 1, 1991 at the Dubuque Memorial Gardens. Military rites were accorded by Dubuque Post No. 6 of the American Legion.

Stanley G. Loper was born January 10, 1944 in Dubuque, Iowa. He graduated from high school in Clayton County in the early 1960's and had been an independent truck driver in the Clayton County area most of his adult life.

Stanley died on or about October 13, 1985, apparently at his residence in Monona, Iowa. His remains were discovered on July 4, 1991 near the Wyalusing State Park on an island in the Mississippi River near the Iowa side of the river.

Stanley is survived by a son, Arlyn Loper of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; 2 grandchildren; his mother, Beverly (Loper) Meana of Galena, Illinois; 1 sister, Dixie (Michael) Vosberg of Cuba City, Wisconsin; and 3 brothers, Robert W. Meana of East Dubuque, Illinois, Darrel "Dean" Meana of Galena, Illinois, and Alan L. Meana of Monroe, Wisconsin.
