Richard A. Maus, Sr., 55, of 2830 Central Ave., died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at home, surrounded by his family.

Chapel services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call after 3 p.m. today. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Rockdale Cemetery.

Mr. Maus formerly worked at Breakstone Sugar Creek Foods for seven years and later worked at Klauer Mfg. Co. for 20 years, until his medical retirement.

He was born on Oct. 11, 1947, in Dubuque, son of William and Verna (Hinde) Maus. He married Neva Mae Campbell on June 27, 1969, in Dubuque.

Rich was a member of the Salvation Army and a former youth group leader. He enjoyed bowling and being with children.

Surviving are his wife, Neva M. Maus; four sons, Richard A. Maus, Jr., James W. Maus, Branden Lee Maus and Richard E. Maus, all of Dubuque; a foster son of eight years and godson, Adam M. Lippstock, of Dubuque; a foster daughter, Regina Sanders, of Dubuque; two nephews, Christopher A. Birch and Justin Hendren, and a niece, Casey Jo Birch, who lived with them for several years; a sister, Marion (Jim) Terry, of Springdale, Ark.; a brother, Joseph (Louise) Maus, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Mary Maus, of Dubuque; a special sister-in-law, Jimmie Miller, of Dubuque; a good friend, Ronald Messelhiser, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Sharon Riddell, and her children, who were like a daughter and grandchildren to Rich; and many nieces and nephews who were very special.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eugene M. "Mickey" Maus, on Aug. 8, 1990; and a brother, James Maus, on June 9, 2003; and his mother-in-law, Sarah Campbell.

A Richard A. Maus, Sr. Memorial Fund has been established.
