James E. Maus, 49, of 635 W. 11th St. Apt. 8, died at 9:55 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery, with Majors Tom and Rose Eagle officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1953, in Dubuque, son of William J. and Verna (Hinde) Maus. He married Mary J. White on Aug. 11, 1989, in Dubuque.

He was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School.

Jim was a Soldier and member of The Salvation Army Church since 1983. He was a conscientious employee and integral part of the ministry of the Salvation Army for 13 years.

Jim was a former member of the Dubuque Jaycees. He enjoyed playing bingo, bridge, euchre, yatzee and also enjoyed fishing.

Jim was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be sadly missed by his many friends at The Salvation Army, especially Marlene Smothers.

Surviving are his wife, Mary J. Maus; three stepdaughters, Pauline L. (Dan) Brimeyer and Nicole A. Shea, both of Dubuque, and Rebecca L. (Dan) Meyer, of Durango, Iowa; two stepsons, Billy R. White and Christopher N. Shea, both of Dubuque; five step grandchildren; a sister, Marian (James) Terry, of Springdale, Ark.; two brothers, Joseph (Louise) Maus and Richard (Neva) Maus, both of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

A James E. Maus Memorial Fund has been established.
