POTOSI, Wis. - Bruce L. Kerkenbush, 50, of Potosi, formerly of Dubuque, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2003, at home, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tennyson, with the Rev. Francis Steffen officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where there will be a parish scripture service at 3:15 p.m. The Martin Page Funeral Home, Potosi, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kerkenbush owned Merry Maids Cleaning in Dubuque from 1986 to 1996. He also was employed at Alliant Energy as a second shift lead mechanic since 1985.

He was born on Dec. 17, 1952, in Lancaster, son of Bob and Helen (Slater) Kerkenbush. He married Roxanne Roethler on June 9, 2000, in Potosi.

He graduated from Potosi High School in 1971. He later graduated from NICC with a mechanic degree.

Bruce had a great love for hunting and enjoyed spending time on his hobby farm. He also enjoyed working on the family-owned Lil Patch Sod Farm. Bruce's greatest love was his five grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Roxanne, of Potosi; two sons, Todd (Kim) Kerkenbush and their sons, Alex, Ryan, Sean and Luke, and Chad Kerkenbush, all of Dubuque; a daughter, Amy (Brian) Gomoll and their daughter, Cora, of Dubuque; his mother, Helen, of Dickeyville; brothers and sisters, Danny (Alice), Joyce (Justin) Weber, Joe (Delores), and Janet (Kendle) Bode, all of Potosi; Judy (Tom) Winner, of Dubuque, Joan (Dave) Klaas, of Stitzer, and Jerry (special friend, Tawna), of Potosi; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kirkendall and nurse, Kate, the oncology floor at The Finley Hospital, Grant County Hospice and Kim Leamy. Special thanks to Jim and Laurie Decker and to our family and friends for your support.
