CASCADE, Iowa - Vivian Rose Clemen, 64, of 904 Fifth Ave. S.E., Cascade, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Melleray, rural Peosta, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl and Rev. Xavier, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

She was born on June 11, 1938, in Solon, daughter of Ambrose and Rose (Roit) Harney. She married James Clemen on June 18, 1960, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Iowa City.

She received her education at Newport 5 in rural Iowa City, and was a graduate of the University of Iowa High School in Iowa City. She was employed as a bartender at the Nest in Cascade. Vivian was a member of St. Matthias Parish, Cascade, and its altar and rosary society; Cascade City Council; and was a Dubuqueland WBA bowler.

She was an avid board game and card player, and also enjoyed cooking for her family.

Surviving are her husband, James Clemen, of Cascade; a son, James (Amy) Clemen, Jr., of Farley; four grandchildren, Brittany, Amber, Brandon and Jacob; eight brothers, Francis (Leona) Harney, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Paul (Betty) Harney, of Burleson, Texas, Ambrose Joseph Harney, of San Rafael, Calif., Thomas (Emily) Harney and Edmund (Joyce) Harney, both of Iowa City, David (Marianne) Harney, of Solon, Patrick (Jean) Harney, of Iowa City, and James (Sandy) Harney, of Nichols; four sisters, Mary Ellen (Milo) Dlouhy, of Hill, Virginia (Daniel) Ockenfels, of Fairfax, Therese Harney, of Iowa City, and Rosa (Gene) Langenberg, of Iowa City; and a sister-in-law, Marguerite Harney, of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Mary Ann Clemen, in April 1967, and Kristin Rose Clemen, on Aug. 19, 1992; and a brother, Vincent Harney.

Memorials may be given to Camp Courageous of Iowa, Monticello, Hospice of Dubuque, and to a charity of your choice.
