Mary C. Staheli, 91, of the Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of St. Mary's Apartments, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the center.

Private family burial of the cremated remains will be Saturday in Center Grove Cemetery. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1912, in Andrew, Iowa, daughter of Nicholas and Alice (Durham) Koppes. She married Charles Staheli in 1963; he died on May 27, 1971.

She moved to Dubuque in 1925 and graduated from the former St. Joseph Academy in 1929. She also graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1937.

She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Surviving are two nephews, Fred (Kathy) Glab, of Grand Haven, Mich., and LeRoy Jacobsen, of Clinton, Iowa; two nieces, Karen (Tom) Ryan, of Cuba City, and Sandy Burke, of West Des Moines, Iowa; and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
