Mr. Gene C. Parker, 74, of Heritage Manor, 4885 Asbury Road, formerly of Durango, Iowa, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Heritage Manor.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road.

Mr. Parker formerly worked at John Deere Dubuque Works prior to retiring.

He was born on May 27, 1928, in Dubuque, son of James and Pearl (Rave) Parker. He married Karen J. Miller on Aug. 24, 1974, in Dubuque.

He was raised in Dubuque and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. He was an avid skier and part time ski instructor at Sundown Mountain. He also loved biking on the Heritage Trail, the outdoors, living in the country and his "special friends," his pets. He also enjoyed going on long walks for relaxation.

Surviving are his wife, Karen J. (Miller) Parker; a sister, Marion Tinker, of Three Rivers, Mich.; a brother, Howard (Catherine) Parker, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Raymond and Willard Parker.

A Gene C. Parker Memorial Fund has been established by his family.
