Andrew J. Kershek, 77, of 925 Indian, Dubuque, formerly of Platteville and Madison, Wis., died at 6:08 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003, at ManorCare Health Services, Dubuque.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Haudenshield Funeral Home, Cuba City, Wis., with the Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Cuba City. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Kershek worked at the Wisconsin State Journal and Capitol Times in Madison, where he was the district manager for more than 55 years.
He was born on Feb. 8, 1926, in Platteville, son of Frank and Mary (Kall) Kershek. He married Rita Mary McCann in 1955, at St. Luke's Methodist Church.
He was very proud of his years with Madison newspapers and their relationship. He took a personal interest in his staff and employees. His passion was his work.
He enjoyed the company of family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed collecting coins.
Andy was a kind and caring person who found a friend in everyone he met. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his wife, Rita, of Dubuque; and many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, in 1958; his mother, Mary, in 1980; and two brothers, Wilfred and Alfred.
