Mrs. Roland J. (Laura M.) Hillebrand, 87, of Hazel Green, Wis., formerly of Dubuque, died at 3:55 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, both in Dubuque. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, where there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1915, in Rickardsville, Iowa, daughter of John R. and Kathryn (Vitzthum) Schmitt.

She married Frank L. Kraus on June 25, 1940, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rickardsville; he died in May 1941. She later married Roland J. Hillebrand on April 24, 1946, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rickardsville; he died on Jan. 2, 1967.

She was a former member of St. Columbkille's Parish in Dubuque.

Laura was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Laura loved being with her family and grandchildren.

Laura was an avid bell collector. She took delight in maintaining her yard and flowers. Laura enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She will be remembered for her delicious Divinity fudge.

Surviving are a daughter, June M. (Ron) Allendorf, of Clinton, Iowa; a son, Randy J. (Barbara) Hillebrand, of Oregon, Wis.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Sister Fleurette Schmitt, OSF, of Mount Horeb, Wis., and Frances (Charles) Burkhart and Rosemary (Leonard) Hansen, both of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Schmitt.
