Donald W. Canavan, 76, of 720 Kelly Lane, died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, at The Finley Hospital.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call after noon Saturday at the church. The Leonard Funeral Home, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on June 6, 1926, in Dubuque, son of William and Sophia (Gassert) Canavan.

He was an Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice; two sons, William D. Canavan, of Dubuque, and John J. Canavan, of St. Joseph, Mich.; two daughters, Judith Ann Braun, of Des Moines, and Donna Canavan, of Dubuque; and a grandson, Daniel Braun, of Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, a Donald W. Canavan Memorial Fund has been established.
