Peter T. Jaeger

Peter T. Jaeger, 93, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of Windsor Park Apts., and Sherrill, Iowa, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at Stonehill Care Center.

In keeping with his wishes, private family services will be held. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on May 24, 1916, in Balltown, Iowa, son of John and Margaret (Conrad) Jaeger. He married Madonna Pfeiler on Sept. 26, 1939, in Rickardsville, Iowa. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last September.

Peter grew up in Balltown and bought a farm in Sherrill, where he farmed for 50 years.

He was an avid card player and Cubs fan. He was a long-time member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Sherrill.

Surviving are his wife, Madonna; three children, Darlene (Leon) Brockman, of Sherrill, Ken (Colleen) Jaeger, of Dubuque, and Pat (John) Bauer, of Holy Cross, Iowa; five grandchildren, Ann (Kevin) Schmerbach, Cindy (Randy) Van Cleve, Allison (Mike) Schroeder, Justin (Stacy) Jaeger and Cory Bauer; eight great-grandchildren, Hope and Logan Schmerbach, Lindsey and Megan Van Cleve, Will and Ella Schroeder and Carter and Lola Jaeger; and a sister-in-law, Aurelia Jaeger, of Balltown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Nick, Tony, Matt, William and John Jaeger; and four sisters, Bertha Thomas, Alvina Knautz, Irene Schmitt and Lucille Schmitt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stonehill Care Center as well as Dawn and Kelly at Hospice of Dubuque for their loving care. The family would also like to extend a special thank-you to Pete's niece, Betty Steines.
