DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Margaret J. "Peg" McDermott, 92, of Wayzata, Minn., formerly of Dyersville, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Wayzata.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Mark McGovern officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, New Melleray, Peosta. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 5 p.m.

Mrs. McDermott taught school for 25 years in the Dubuque County and Dubuque Community School Districts.

She was born on July 5, 1910, in Peosta, daughter of Patrick and Hanorah (Sullivan) Connolly. She received higher education at the former Immaculate Conception Academy and the University of Dubuque.

She married Clarence McDermott on Sept. 25, 1936, in Chicago. Together they farmed in the Peosta area until they moved to Dyersville in 1988.

She moved to Palmer Hills Retirement Home, Bettendorf, in 1997.

She was a member of the National Teachers Association, Immaculate Conception Academy Alumnae Association, American Conference of Catholic Women, Catholic Daughters of America and the Order of Martha.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth (Mike) McGuiness, of Hayward, Wis., and Dolores (Roger) Reddan, of Bloomington, Minn.; a son, Michael (Sally) McDermott, of Brandon, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on Oct. 5, 1989; a son, Robert McDermott, on March 3, 1939; five brothers; and two sisters.
