CORALVILLE, Iowa -- Bernadette D. "Bernie" Wagner, 63, of Coralville, formerly of Dubuque, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a sudden illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at St. Wenceslaus Church, Iowa City, with the Rev. Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Lensing Oak Hill Funeral Service, Coralville.

She was born on June 3, 1946, in Dyersville, daughter of Harold and Marcella (Jaeger) Kramer. She was a graduate of Western Dubuque High School.

She married Robert "Bob" Wagner on Nov. 13, 1981, in Dubuque.

Bernie was employed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where she was a clerk in the hospital gift shop. In 2001, Bernie and Bob moved to Coralville from Dubuque, where Bernie owned and operated the Sunshine Beauty Salon for more than 30 years.

Bernie was very creative and enjoyed floral arranging, craftwork and attending plays. She loved the time spent with her family and her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Bob; two children, Bob Kennedy, of St. Louis, and Kim (Aaron) Kennedy Fransen, of St. Louis County, Mo.; three grandchildren, Drew, Nathan and Wesley; three siblings, Justin "Mick" (Delores) Kramer, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Angela (Ron) Haight, of Coralville, and Tom (Judy) Kramer, of Freeport, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Cristy.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
