EPWORTH, Iowa - Otto N. Theisen, 92, formerly of 103 Fourth St., Epworth, died at 9:18 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Epworth, with the Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Concelebrating will be the Rev. Lyle Wilgenbusch and Rev. Raymond Burkle. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Epworth. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Epworth, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

He was born on March 29, 1910, in Holy Cross, son of John A. and Angeline (Schmitt) Theisen.

On Jan. 29, 1935, he married Mary Cecelia Hannan at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rickardsville. The couple farmed all their lives. They started farming in Holy Cross, then on Feb. 14, 1938, they moved to a farm in rural Epworth, where they continued farming until their retirement on Feb. 14, 1975.

He received his education in the Holy Cross area schools. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth, and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving are five children, Paul (Betty) Theisen and John (Janaan) Theisen, both of Epworth, Elaine (Gerald) Schueller, of Dubuque, Loras (Sherri) Theisen, of Belvidere, Ill., and Jane (Richard) Dunkel, of Worthington; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ludwina Hannan, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary C. Theisen on June 18, 1985; two sons, Merle Theisen, on Aug. 21, 1950, and Ralph Theisen on May 23, 2002; a great grandchild, Claudia Wegner; two brothers; and three sisters.

Memorials for may be given to St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth, Iowa.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Chateau Royale of Worthington, Iowa, and Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa, for all their compassionate care.
