Coletta Ann Speltz Tigges

Coletta Ann Tigges, 75, of 3040 Keokuk St., was called by God into heaven at 12:50 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at home after a short and brave battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Private burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Her life will be celebrated with friends and family from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the church, where there will be a parish wake service at 6 p.m. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on April 21, 1934, in Dubuque, daughter of Ralph and Mary (McDermott) Speltz. She married Cletus Tigges on Feb. 27, 1954. They spent 55 years loving each other and their six children.

She worked at the General Dry Battery, Klauer Manufacturing and St. Vincent de Paul.

She truly enjoyed being a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of four. She spent each and every day caring about everyone she loved. Her deep faith was an example for all who knew her. She would regularly spend time at the "Power of Prayer," praying for others who needed God's comfort. Coletta lived her life preparing for her place in heaven, and we know she is now, smiling down on us all saying "Don't worry about me."

Surviving are her husband, Cletus Tigges, of Dubuque; two sons, Steve (Marsha Braun) Tigges, and his children, Kelli, Natalie and Stephanie, and Randy (Jo) Tigges, and their children, Ryland, Jaiden and Tara; four daughters, Debra (Dick) White, and their children, Shelly (Greg) Crowley, Mike (Lindsey) and Matt, Diane (Tony) Helling, and their children, Krista and Nicholas, Chris (Dan) Brimeyer, and their children, Brianna, Brandon, Bayleigh and Brooke and Julie (Jeff) Chase, and their children, Chad, Chelsey and Channah; her great-grandchildren, Kaden and Kambrie Crowley, Landon Redding and Preston White; siblings, Juan (Earl) Lampe, Jim (Nancy) Speltz, Nancy (John) Frommelt, Sharon (Jerry) Lochner and Bonnie Stender; brothers-in-law, Ralph and Eldon Tigges; and sisters-in-law, Marge Keenan, Anna Mae Wimer and Eileen Pierce.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Larry Speltz

A Coletta Ann Tigges Memorial Fund has been established.
