Robert D. Trilk Sr.

Robert D. Trilk Sr., 56, of 9041 Pheasant Lane, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ardel Barta officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a prayer service at 7:45 p.m. led by Deacon Bill Biver.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1952, in Dubuque, son of Thomas J. and Lois G. (Frommelt) Trilk. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1970.

He married Darlene Palm on June 12, 1971, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church.

Bob was employed with John Deere Dubuque Works from 1972 until 1982. He continued his construction career in California until taking a position at Conlon Construction in 1990, where he was currently employed as a general superintendent.

He liked to be outdoors and enjoyed golfing, boating and fishing. Bob loved to include his three grandsons in all his activities.

His family will remember him as a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. Bob was the family hero and will be deeply missed.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene, of Dubuque; two children, Jennifer Trilk, of Athens, Ga., and Robert (Carissa) Trilk Jr., of Dubuque; three grandsons, Garrett, Lukas and Keegan Trilk; his parents, Thomas and Lois Trilk; and two brothers, Keith (Julie) Trilk, of Portland, Ore., and Clifford Trilk, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Andrea "Ande" Trilk.
