Linda L. Young

Linda L. Young, 57, of 2190 Suzanne Drive, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at the Resurrection Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Hauer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1952, in Dubuque, daughter of Stephen and Marcella (Hilkin) O'Hea. She married James R. Young on May 2, 1975.

She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and was a member of Resurrection Parish.

She worked for Flexsteel Industries prior to raising her family.

Surviving are her husband, James; a son, Scott (Jessica) Young, of Dubuque; a daughter, Stacy Young, at home; grandsons, Dylan and Jackson; two sisters, Lanae (Paul) Behnke and Louise (Joe) Lange, both of Dubuque; a brother, Steve (Jane) O'Hea, of Dubuque; sisters-in-law, Pat (Leo) Link and Susan (friend, Randy) Young, both of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, John (Janet) Young, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and a niece, Jennifer.

In lieu of flowers, a Linda L. Young Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Thomas Schreiber and his staff and Mercy Medical Center, especially third floor and ICU staff for all the care and kindness they gave to Linda.
