WORTHINGTON, Iowa — Raymond J. Schlarmann, 92, of Worthington, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville, after a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish rosary at 4 p.m.

He was born on Dec. 21, 1910, in Earlville, son of Bernard and Margaret (Kramer) Schlarmann.

He married Veronica K. Kremer on April 19, 1937, in Worthington. They farmed in the Worthington area.

He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed working as a mechanic on tractors and loved photography, especially taking videos.

Surviving are four daughters, Rosemary (Paul T.) Krogmann, of Manchester, Grace (Richard) Koob, of Dubuque, Patricia (Dale) Casper, of Belmont, Wis., and Monica (Ronald) Wiskus, of Luxemburg; three sons, Raymond Jr. (Marlene), of Worthington, Robert (Margaret), of Hopkinton, and Jerome (Star), of West Des Moines; 36 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford (Juanita), of La Motte, and Ambrose (Hattie), of Monticello; and a sister, Bernice Beringer, of Cascade.

He was preceded in death by his wife, on Sept. 1, 1985; a son, John, in infancy; a grandson, Christopher Wiskus; a great-granddaughter, Kaye Marie Krogmann; four sisters, Rita Schlarmann, Della Cameron, Marcella Bodine and Vera Elsner; and a brother, Leonard Schlarmann.
