Rosemary M. Patters, 87, of Sunnycrest Manor, formerly of 3745 Peru Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born on Sept. 4, 1921, in Dubuque, daughter of Emil and Helen (Nagel) Bauer. She married Donald F. Patters on Oct. 21, 1944, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1996. She spent her time taking care of her husband and family.

Rosemary loved spending time with her family, and especially delighted in her grandchildren. She enjoyed a wicked game of rummy, shopping with friends, and camping and picnicking with her family.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda L. (Wayne) Becker, of Dubuque; a son, Donald J. Patters, of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Scott Becker and Sara (Eli) Licht, Denise Patters, Laura (Joshua) Vander Ploeg and Jill Patters; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (Paul) Steuri, of Earlville, Iowa; a brother, Wayne (Betty) Bauer, of Dubuque; and a sister-in-law, Marigold Patters, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Wayne Becker; a brother, La Verne Bauer; and a sister, Lorraine Krueger.
