Reno W. Risley

Reno W. Risley, 77, of 2977 White Street, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Egelhof-Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral home, 2659 Kennedy Road. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 6 of Dubuque. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Risley worked at the former Dubuque Packing Co. for many years and then retired from FDL Foods.

He was born on May 31, 1930, in East Dubuque, Ill., son of Oris and Estalla (Powers) Risley. He attended Saint Mary's Grade School in East Dubuque, and then attended Saint Columbkille's High School.

He married Joyce Adele Kehde on Oct. 29, 1977; she preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 1992.

He served in the Army during the Korean War and was proud to be a veteran.

He loved being with family and friends, enjoying a good game of poker, and in recent years enjoyed camping and summers at Waupeton.

Surviving are his four stepchildren, Gary Kehde and Patricia Kehde, both of Dubuque, Lorraine (Jim) Cassidy, of Asbury, Iowa, and Laurie (Jeff) Bausch, of Wisconsin; four step-grandchildren, Jeff Kehde, Tim Kehde, Brian Cassidy and Stacy Campbell; three brothers, Jim (Kay) Risley, of Dubuque, John (Sheri) Risley, of East Dubuque, and Joe Risley, of Ypsilanti, Mich.; five sisters, Mary Quick, of Front Royal, Va., Carmen ( Everett) Flynn, of Prattville, Ala., Eileen (Bud) Eck, of Weston, Idaho, Ruth (Franklin) Craig, of Myrtle, Mo., and Teresa (John) Adams, of Kanosh, Utah; a sister- in-law, Shirley Risley and a brother- in-law, Dave Joos, both of East Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arnold Risley; a sister, Joyce Joos; and a brother-in-law Bill Quick.
