Arlene M. Ries

Arlene M. "Bus" Ries, 84, of Crestridge Care Center, Maquoketa, Iowa, formerly of 2840 Burlington St., Dubuque, where she resided with her mother and later at 2615 Washington St., where she resided with her brother, Glenn and Rosie Ries, died at 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 5 p.m.

She was born on Nov. 30, 1923, in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of Peter G. and Edna M. (Ehlers) Ries.

Arlene was a happy person who enjoyed being with people, especially children. She liked listening to music and rocking with the beat. Her cat brought her many hours of joy. Arlene was pleased to be with her nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her cousins.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Rosella "Rosie" Ries, of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Louis Fiedler, of Menominee, Ill.; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Martha Fiedler and Mildred (Ray) Hirsch; and a brother, Glenn Ries.

The family would like to thank Crestridge Care Center and the Jackson County Regional Health Center for their loving care and support for Arlene and the family.
