George F. Kirchberg

George F. Kirchberg, 76, of 1807 Glendale Court, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ardel Barta officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m.

Mr. Kirchberg was employed as a fabric engineer supervisor at Flexsteel Industries.

He was born on Jan. 13, 1932, in Jamestown, Wis., son of George V. and Amelia Ann (Dolter) Kirchberg. He graduated from the former Loras Academy ROTC program in 1950.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, American Legion Post 6, Dubuque Classic Car Club, Iowa Oldsmobile Club, National Oldsmobile Club, and the International Oldsmobile Club.

Surviving are two sisters, Lorraine Kirchberg and Mary (James) Cosley, both of Dubuque; five nieces and nephews, David J. (Patricia) Cosley, of Dubuque, and their children, Lysa Cosley, of Dubuque, and Lynda (Scott) Bohlman, of Clinton, Iowa, Dennis J. (Mary) Cosley, of Dubuque, and their children, Thomas (June) Cosley, of Guttenberg, Iowa, Daniel (Ia) Cosley, of Tokyo, Japan, and Sarah Cosley, of Dubuque, William J. Cosley, of Atkins, Iowa, Janet (Robert) Smith, of Kalona, Iowa, and their child, Justin Smith, Joan (Randy) Herbst, of Dubuque, and their children, Stephanie Herbst, of Dubuque, and Alexandria Herbst, of Turner Falls, Mass.; three great-great-nephews and nieces, Elias, Will and Leah, children of Thomas and June Cosley.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
