Mrs. Jennie Venn

Mrs. Jennie Venn, 72, of 1405 Cedar St., died at 1:25 a.m. Sunday at her home after a lingering illness. The body is at the Haudenshield funeral home, 2170 Central Avenue, where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery.

She was born Feb. 26, 1879 at Dodgeville, Wis. She came to Dubuque in 1913 and had lived here since. She was a member of the Ivy Leaf Camp of Royal Neighbors.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. John (Florence) Specht, Mrs. Peter (Mae) Schmitt and William O. Lightfoot, all of Dubuque, and Mrs. Gus (Genevieve) Almburg, of Dundee, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Floyd Slaught, of Lancaster, Wis., Mrs. Cornelia Doser, of Potosi, Wis., and Mrs. Beatrice Griffith and Mrs. George Estap, both of Nadera, Calif., 22 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband John F. Venn, on Nov. 19, 1949, by a sister and a brother.

Submitter's note: Jennie was Gennive Mary Jane Bambrough, the daughter of Henry Bambrough and Amanda Davis. Jennie was first married to William Lafayette Lightfoot, the son of John Newhall Lightfoot and Diane Caskey. Jennie and William were divorced.
