D. J. Elliott, Jr.

EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. - D. J. Elliott, Jr., 34, of 2 Woodlawn Drive, East Dubuque, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, as a result of injuries sustained in an electrical accident while working at a supper club, Kieler, Wis.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture service at 2 p.m.

Mr. Elliott was the owner and operator of SunStar Equipment Co.

He was born on Dec. 27, 1971, in Dubuque, son of Dave and Jeanette (Schwendinger) Elliott. He married Sue Gross on April 8, 1994, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque.

He was a 1990 graduate of Hempstead High School, Dubuque.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

D. J. was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, four wheeling, snowmobiling, family activities with his wife and children and restoring his GTO.

Surviving are his wife, Sue, of Dubuque; three children, Sierra, Jesse and Samantha, all of Dubuque; his mother, Jeanette Elliott, of Dubuque; his father, Dave "D.J.'s Dad" Elliott, and stepmother, Nettie Frederick, of Dubuque; two sisters, Tammy (Mark) Welbes, of Dubuque, and Tonya Elliott, of East Dubuque; a stepbrother, Joe (Krystal) Frederick, of Dubuque; a stepsister, Roseann (Bryce) Drapeau, of St. Catherine, Iowa; his grandfather, Anthony Schwendinger, of Sparta, Mich.; his step-grandfather, Joseph Loeffelholz, of Dubuque; his father and mother-in-law, Roger and Patricia (Hoftender) Gross, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Brenda Molzof, of East Dubuque; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a D. J. Elliott Jr. Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Singsank and the Mercy Emergency Room staff, the Jamestown Fire Department First Responders and the Dickeyville (Wis.) Rescue Squad for all of their help and support.

"Everybody loved D. J., and D. J. loved everybody. He would give you the shirt off of his back and the last penny from his wallet."
