Eleanor Connolly Keating, 89, active for many years in the American Red Cross and other organizations here, died Wednesday at her home in Washington.

She had worked closely with Mabel Boardman, head of the Red Cross, in founding various volunteer services, including the nurse's aide and Grey Lady programs.
he widow of former Rep. Edward Keating (D-Colo.) who served in Congress from 1913 to 1919, and then was editor and manager for many years of Labor, the national weekly paper of Railroad Brotherhoods. He died here in 1965.
Born in Dubuque, Iowa, Mrs. Keating first came to Washington in 1901 to attend Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School. She returned to Dubuque, then came back to Washington in 1913, when she served as hostess for her brohter, the late Maurice Connolly during his two-year term as a congressman from Iowa. Mrs. Keating remained in Washington. She married Mr. Keating in 1941. She was an active member and former president of the Georgetown Visitation Alumni Association. In 1949 she wrote a history of the Georgetown Visitation Convent for its bicentennial celebration.
Mrs. Keating also was a member of the Woman's National Democratic Club, the Sulgrave Club and an honorary life associate of the Cosmos Club. She belonged to the Christ Child Society and the sodality or Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, and was a Benedictine oblate at St. Anseim's Abbey. There are no immediate survivors.
