UNFORTUNATE-The friends and acquaintances of Mr. N. L. Alden will learn with regret that he had to suffer amputation of his leg yesterday afternoon. For a little over a year Mr. Alden has been a cripple from his unfortunate leg. A most trifling accident is the occasion of his severe loss: One night in August of ’68, he arose from his bed, in the dark, and while searching for a light, truck his leg against a chair, just where he had broken it as a boy. It inflamed, began to discharge, and finally necrosis ensued
