The Steamer Excel – This splendid, fast running, A No. 1 clipper built boat, arrived in our port Wednesday evening, May 11th from St. Louis. From the noise in our streets announcing her arrival, we thought at first the whole Mediterranean Squadron or Japan Expedition had undertaken the voyage over the plains, and were taking us on their way. – Cap.
