Chicago, May 29

F. S. Jesup, Esq. – Dear Sir: Your favor of the 18th, notifying me of my appointment as Chief Engineer of the “Dubuque and Pacific Rail Road Co.,” has come to mind. I accept the situation with pleasure, and will devote to it as much time as I can possibly spare from any present engagements.
I firmly believe that your road is yet to be a prominent one, among Western Rail Roads.
Yours, truly,
