POST OFFICE AT SOUTH HOLLER – The people residing on the opposite side of the river, from Dubuque, are very inconveniently situated with regard to Post Office facilities. Being but a short distance from Dubuque, they most naturally desire and have usually obtained their mail at this office. This subjects them to go to the trouble and expense of crossing the river, or going to Galena’ which is a long distance.
A petition has gone to the Department, asking the establishment of an office at “South Holler” which is five miles from Dubuque, and fourteen from Galena. An office at this point would greatly accommodate a large and increasing community.
