Killed by Falling Into Eighth Street Sewer

A German named Henry Stoecher who resides near Potosi, Wis., was in town, yesterday. In traversing the streets after dark last night, he fell into the sewer on Eighth Street, between the main track and the side track of C. D. & M. Railroad, near the depot, where, it seems, for a few yards, the sewer is not covered. When found, the man was in an insensible condition. Marshall Finn, on being informed of the facts, had him taken to the calaboose, where he was made as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. Nearly all his ribs were broken on both sides, torn from their attachments from the back-bone and protruding through the flesh and skin, so that the air from his lungs came out through the back at each expiration. His skull was crushed in and the blood was oozing from his ears. Of course recovery is impossible, and at midnight it was hardly supposed that he could survive till morning. We are informed that last seem in the afternoon he was evidently considerably worse for the liquor
