RIVER ACCIDENT
The Ferryboat Dunleith Runs a Tilt
Against the BridgeAbout eight o’clock last evening the new ferryboat, Dunleith, while attempting to pass through draw pier of the bridge, struck against the upper end of the pier and tore away her guards from the bow nearly to the wheelhouse, and sustained other serious damages. The steamer lies on the Dunleith side, and is reported to be leaking badly. Persons who were standing on the bridge at the time of the collision, state that the concussion was not felt by them, so substantial is that structure.
