Drawing a Pistol

On Friday night George Burrows had a misunderstanding with Peter Werten, outside of the American House. The dispute ran high, and Werten retreated into the house. Burrows followed him and drew a pistol on him. Burrow’s wife, fearing trouble followed her husband into the house and appeared just in time to grab the drawn pistol and wrench it from his hands. He then struck Werten with his fist. He was arrested and appeared before Justice Leckie, fined $25 and costs, and required to give $200 bond to keep the peace. He was unable to pay his fine or give bond, and was sent to jail.
