The Davenport Gazette says: The sternwheel steamer Savanna, of the Keokuk Northern Line, arrived at this port from Montrose about one o’clock yesterday morning, with two barges in tow. She remained at the levee to noon, when the floating ice caused the captain to adopt the idea that his trip northward would be safer without the barges. So he left the barges here, after transferring their merchandise to his deck, and left for the north at noon. He intended going to Dubuque but will stop at Clinton, and will deliver his freight to the C. C. & D. Railroad. Then he will turn about and make for Davenport and Montrose. The Savanna has the honor of being the last passenger and freight steamer from the south this year.
