RIVER NEWS – The stern wheel steamer Mollie McPike has the honor of being the first boat to touch the Dubuque levee landing for the year 1870. She arrived yesterday before noon under command of that old veteran and popular officer, Captain Abe Hutchinson, with Elam Fuller, and old Northerner, in the office. The Captain, naturally enough, expected that the old an honorable custom in other places, of free wharfage to the first arrival, would be observed here. The wharfmaster, however, could not see it in them lamps, and went for the Mollie to the extent of eleven dollars and sixty cents, by which sum the City Treasury will be so much richer. She brought 150 packages of merchandise, and took on for St. Louis 1800 sacks of grain, 300 hundred barrels of flour, a quantity of provisions, and about two tons of way freight from merchants here to points below. She got off last night.
