MAN IN PARKED CAR IS
HELD UP IN POINT PARK

Relived of Money at
Point of Gun;
Companion Not Molested

George W. Lawson, of Des Moines, reported to police Wednesday evening that he was held up by a lone bandit, armed with a revolver, and robbed of $52 dollars in cash in the north end of Eagle Point Park.

Lawson said the robbery occurred at 6:30 o’clock Wednesday evening while he and a young lady, whose name he did not divulge, were seated in his parked car, in the north end of the park, enjoying the view of the river and the surrounding bluffs.

The bandit approached their car, flourished a gun and ordered Lawson to hold up his hands. The young woman was not molested.

Lawson said the bandit was about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, of fairly heavy build, wore a light cap and a brown lumber jacket. He had a southern drawl, Lawson stated.

A squad of police went to the park and carried on a systematic search for the man described by Lawson but found no trace of him.
