J. J. DUNN QUALIFIES
~
J. J. Dunn is now sheriff of Dubuque.
At noon the member of the Board of Supervisors met and approved his bond. A few moment later Mr. Dunn was sworn in. John Steiner is ex-sheriff of Dubuque County. At noon he removed his effects from the jail and turned the office over to his successor. It is said Mr. Steiner will engage in the cigar business. There was little formality in the change in the office. Mr. Dunn gracefully took charge and performed the duties of the office like a veteran and with true Chestertelidan manners.
Mr. Dunn announced his bailiff and other assistants as follow:

Jailer-John Callahan of Farley
Deputy Sheriff-N. P. Nicks
Bailiffs-Joseph Keppler, John Dell, James Norton, William Kelly of this city, and Mr. McCarthy of Bernard
