Will Build Stairs
~
The city carpenters have received orders from the city council to construct a pair of stairs from Third Street to Fenelon Place, near the elevator. This will be a great convenience for people living in that vicinity. The city carpenters have just completed two or three other jobs that are deserving of mention. One is the new steps at the head of Main Street. Alderman Horr says this is the finest piece of carpenter work ever done for the city and a great credit to City Carpenter Crawford who supervised the work. The alderman says the joints of every piece of lumber were painted and seasoned before being put together and that the stairs on this account will last several years longer. Alderman Horr says that the Street Commission (Boy__) [type is faded but it looks to be “Boyes”] is deserving of great credit for his good work in repairing Hodgson Avenue and Catherine Street.
