Richard Haskell of 1556 Lincoln Avenue, while working on a wall of the old Audubon School on Thursday morning was crushed by falling bricks and timber, and injured, perhaps fatally.

The man was working on top of the wall on the third floor. Noting the shaking of the wall, caused by the wind, Haskell jumped to the floor in order to escape the falling bricks. The wall toppled, scattering crumbling bricks and Haskell was struck in the head by a falling joist, while the bricks injured his chest. The entire north section caved in and the wonder is that the man escaped with his life.

As soon as the dust cleared away, workmen hurried to assist the injured man. He was taken to a house across the street, physicians were summoned and the injuries dressed. He was taken to his home where he was reported to be resting comfortably during the afternoon.

Another workmen, employed in the vicinity, was also slightly injured.

On Wednesday a section of the south wall gave way and fell to the ground, causing excitement in the ward until it was learned no one was injured. The walls when falling crumble, proving the rotten condition of the structure.

The greatest caution is being exercised in removal of the walls. The structure is in a more dangerous condition than was generally supposed.
